Nursed back to a bright new future
Work is almost complete at a former disused NHS site.
The final touches are being added to Edge, where Bellway has built 69 new homes on a former site of a nurses’ home near Maidstone Hospital.
The buildings had fallen into disuse, and were deemed surplus to requirements in May 2012.
Bellway received full planning permission to develop the site in March 2015.
All the homes have now been sold at the Hermitage Lane development and sales manager for Bellway’s Kent division, Kirstie Frith, said the project had been a fantastic success.
She said: “Edge has been one of our most popular sites over the last 12 months or so, and is a fantastic example of how a brownfield site can be transformed into a brilliant new community.
“The site had fallen into disuse, so it was a great opportunity to be able to revitalise the area and provide some muchneeded new homes at the same time. We’re very proud of the way Edge has turned out.”
“Many residents have now moved in and it’s been brilliant to see the community here form over the past few months.”
