Second time lucky as Wiles breaks clear

-

Geoff Wiles claimed a brilliant win for Abellio-SFA at the LVRC National Criterium Championships in Wiltshire.

He attacked 20 minutes into last Saturday’s race but no-one else joined him in the break and a strong field soon reeled him in.

Wiles, knowing he had to keep the pressure on, attacked again and this time he managed to stay away, winning the race by around 40 seconds.

There were three San Fairy Ann riders in action at the Open VTTA 50 at Romney Marsh on Sunday.

A brilliant ride by Mike Perry saw the 71-year-old complete the course in 2hr 47min 2sec with club-mates Emma Juden and Martin Foord crossing in 2:27.37 and 1:58.09 respectively – Foord’s time a new personal best.

Kate and John Bosley took part in the EDCA 100-mile time trial on the B100/4 course on the A11 north of Thetford.

In windy conditions, they set a new 100-mile personal best time of 4:25.07.
