Maidstone’s Joe Draper says he will be in the shape of his life for the biggest fight of his career.

The 23-year-old southpaw takes on Portsmouth’s Tom Bevington for the vacant Queensbury regional title at Epsom Downs racecourse tomorrow (Saturday).

He impressed last time out with a win over Oxford’s Lewis MacKay and Draper is targeting an even better performance to capture the belt.

Draper, who trains out of the Combat Sports Academy under the guidance of head coach Lee Page, said: “I am in the best physical shape of my life and can’t wait to step into the ring and win that title. The training with Lee and all the other fighters he trains has been more intensive than anything I’ve done before.

“There is no getting away with not putting the work in with Lee.

“Boxing in the league is on another level to anything I’ve been involved with before and my last experience was amazing.

“For this one I’ve been sparring plenty of tough guys and pushing myself to make sure my fitness is at its peak, so come fight night I will have done everything I can to win.”

Draper’s title fight will feature on the undercard of the Queensbury Boxing League’s All Guns Blazing show.
