Chipping in for quake victims

-

Fish and chip fans have another chance to support families affected by last year’s devastating earthquake in Nepal.

Donda Michaelas, owner of Marino’s Fish Bar in Ashford Road, Bearsted, will donate profits from sales on Tuesday, November 1, to the Matt Carapiet Charitable Trust.

Mr Carapiet, a 23-year-old student from the village, was killed when a 7.8-magnitude quake hit the Langtang district in April 2015.

His family and friends have raised more than £14,000 for various projects to help earthquake victims in Nepal and fundraised for a school in Cambodia Mr Carapiet helped build while travelling in Asia.

Last year Mr Michaelas and his customers made more than £1,500 with a similar day.

Mr Carapiet’s sister Christina Bailey said: “We are looking at other projects in Langtang and we might do some more work with the school.”
