Council has ignored eco-alternativ­e

Assistant news editor Senior reporter Senior reporter It is no surprise Maidstone council officials including Cllr David Burton are ridiculed in the local press.

In his letter to the KM, dated December 2, Cllr Burton stated: “Many people have criticised the local plan but no one has offered an alternativ­e.” This is blatantly untrue.

For several years now the Eco Build Partnershi­p UK has presented a proposal for an eco-village at Broomfield Park in Kingswood, offering a substantia­l kick-start to the Leeds-bypass.

For whatever reason, council officials have repeatedly refused to engage with us to form this innovative project.

Indeed more than 20 years ago the present owner’s father offered to fund the first stage of the council’s promoted dual-carriagewa­y ‘blue route’ Leeds bypass. His offer was Senior reporter Senior reporter not accepted and the ideal road was never built.
