£80,000 changing room revamp

-

Larkfield Leisure Centre has undergone an £80,000 refurbishment.

The project to upgrade the changing room facilities in New Hythe Lane has been funded by Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council and Tonbridge and Malling Leisure Trust (TMLT), which operates the centre.

Among the changes are a new air-conditioning system which leaves the changing facilities smelling fresher, as well as resin flooring that has greater slip resistance for improved safety.

Smart new cubicle doors have been installed and the final phase of the revamp in March will see new lockers, which will accept both the existing and new 12-sided £1 coin that comes into circulation later that month.

Martin Guyton, chief executive of TMLT, said: “Larkfield is an extremely popular centre but its changing facilities were tired and overdue for refurbishment.

“Following feedback from our customers, we’ve made this significant investment to transform the changing rooms, which will dramatically improve users’ experience of the centre.”

In addition to the changing room upgrade, TMLT and the council have jointly invested £12,000 in renovating the sports hall floor.
