Sam-Yorke recall fear

Maidstone fear Delano SamYorke will be recalled by National League relegation rivals Woking. The striker’s two-month loan expires after the home game against Southport on March 4 and manager Jay Saunders doubts he’ll be allowed to stay on. Woking were always taking a risk in loaning Sam-Yorke to Maidstone, knowing a successful spell at the Gallagher could boost United and hit their own survival chances. The teams are virtually neck and neck with Woking are just a point clear of Stones, who occupy the final relegation place. Saunders said: “I spoke to Garry Hill (Woking boss) on Monday and asked what he thought. I don’t know but my gut feeling is they will call him back. “People have got to appreciate it was good of them to let us have him in the first place given we were in similar positions. “He’s their player and they’ve got to make the right decision for them. “I’d love to keep him but it’s out of our hands. You can see why we brought him in – he’s added to us. He’s a strong boy and he’s nicked a few goals for us.” Sam-Yorke is set to start at Braintree tomorrow (Saturday) as United look to climb out of the bottom four. Stones beat the Iron in August and will be just a point behind them if they win again. Confidence is high after four points from the last two games. Saunders, who has new signing Magnus Okuonghae available, said: “When you’ve played well you just want the next game and they don’t come much bigger than this.”
