Heartbreak for friends and family at woman’s death
Daughter had struggled with loss of mother
A young woman who had recently lost her mother has been found dead at home, an inquest heard
Paige Chester was discovered by her sister and a friend last Monday after they could not contact her.
The news has been met by grief from the popular 21-year-old’s devastated friends.
An inquest into her death was opened at Archbishop’s Palace, Maidstone, on Friday.
Coroner Patricia Harding was told the cause of death was suspension.
Paige, of Thornhill Road, Maidstone, had previously told a family friend she wanted to be with her mother, who had passed away in November.
Just days before her death, Paige, who had grown up in Upper Halling, had posted on her Facebook page that she was happy, saying: “After the worst time of my life I’ve come out so much stronger, couldn’t be happier right now with work and life in general.
“Soppy as it is wish you could see me now mum but hope you’re proud of me.”
Friends and family have taken to Facebook to talk of their shock.
Her brother, Shane Chester, paid a heartbreaking tribute, saying: “This is killing me. I know you’re with mum now and that’s all you wanted.
“Just know this, everything I do now is for you and mum. I just hope I can somehow make you proud of me.”
Rhys Michael Gray wrote: “RIP Paige Chester. So close at a stage in our life, you helped me through a lot at one point. I can’t thank you enough and hearing the sad news that you’ve tragically passed away at such a young age is a pull on the heart strings. Thoughts go out to Shannon. Lots of love, sleep tight.”
Demi Thomas posted: “I am devastated to hear that the sky has gained another angel, Paige Chester, sleep tight you little beauty.”
Lara Louise added: “Paige Chester you darling girl. Fly high with the angels, sleep tight xx.”
The full inquest is expected to be held on Tuesday, May 23.
