Tom Carpenter won comfortabl­y on his return to the Maidstone parkrun. He finished in 16min21sec, almost two minutes ahead of runner-up Ben Hughes (JM15-17), who crossed the line in 18.05. Third place went to James Ford (JM15-17) in 19.21. Carpenter was also the best age-graded performer with a score of 79.31%. Lauren Harker (JW11-14), third two weeks ago, struck a blow for the younger generation by leading the ladies home in 22.31. Abbie Gutsell, first two weeks ago, was second in 22.37, with Katie James third in 22.51. There were 363 runners. Meanwhile, Niall Stewart won at Malling in 17.03. Jack Crossley, running at the venue for the first time, came second in 17.47 and Martin Jessup produced a personal best of 17.57 to take third place and the best agegraded score of 79.02%. In the women’s race, Charlotte Bates’ first visit was a winning one in 20.11. Another first-time visitor, Tereza Francova, took second in 20.31, with Charlotte Harper third with a PB of 24.13. There were 182 runners.

Jock Simpson ran the Surrey Half-Marathon at Woking and was 2,319th out of 2,890 runners in 2:03.41.
