The Detling Players never shy away from taking on ambitious production­s. This year is no exception. They are presenting a modern-day production of King Lear in the village hall. Although Shakespear­e wrote his masterpiec­e in 1603, the group has found links to today’s world and the themes of Brexit, old age, dementia and inequality will be central to their interpreta­tion. The challengin­g role of Lear is taken by David Vale, pictured, while Steve Page plays Albany and Sue Sutton is Goneril, inset. PARISH COUNCIL: PCSO Jasmine Pay is in the process of training for the assumption of her responsibi­lities for the Coxheath and Hunton ward. It is expected that she will take up her position with effect from May. There have been six crimes and four cases of anti-social behaviour recorded: One theft, two thefts from motor vehicles and three cases of criminal damage. The cases of antisocial behaviour were two cases of nuisance youths and two cases of bad driving.
