Residents fly high: On Saturday, April 29, weather permitting, seven residents, some of them in wheelchairs, will be taking off for their flight of a lifetime from Blackbushe Airport. Six are residents at Sobell Lodge, the Leonard Cheshire Home in our village which cares for physically disabled adults, and a client from Laney’s Farm, which provides day care for adults with learning difficulties. The event has been organised by the Lions (who have raised the money locally) in conjunction with Aerobility. Last year Aerobilty organised flights for more than 350 disabled people of all ages and with every conceivable disabling condition. Much more than the flying is planned and, as well as some vintage aircraft it is hoped that pilots from the Red Arrows and Blades (the RAF display team) will be present. Let’s hope for some great weather. Cricket for girls: Megan Belt and CricketForGirls.com is providing specialist coaching at the Cricket Acadamy for girls aged six to 13 on Wednesdays from 5-6pm.
