Barming Primary School parents gave a mixed reaction.

Mia Stockwell-Thompson said: “It is just a shame the government is cutting all the money – and there will be more schools like this one. It is a disappointing situation and it will not get any better unless the government changes the way it does their funding.”

Becky Planck, of Belmont Close, said: “It is concerning but I like to think the standard of the teaching is still going to be good and we will have to trust the school knows what they are doing and have the children’s best interests at heart.”

Grandmother Heather Wigston, 77, of Heath Road, Barming, said she was dismayed the school had been forced to cut back on staff because of a lack of funds: “It is quite disgraceful and it will be very detrimental for the children.

“It is a very proactive school and it is such a shame if good teachers are made redundant as it is the children who will suffer.”

Darren Card, 39, of Arundel Square, added: “I don’t think it is really good. I just don’t want it to affect the children at all.”
