Transport firm’s alarm puzzle

Kent Messenger Maidstone - - NEWS -

Bus drivers waiting for passengers in a town centre high street are being left baffled by a mystery alarm.

Video footage captured in Maidstone shows one bus driver who had trouble finding a way to silence the alarm, which begins sounding while the bus is stationary.

Dozens of Arriva buses pass through the High Street, and the alarm in question has been heard sounding multiple times each day.

It sometimes lasts for more than 20 seconds.

It is not yet known why the alarm begins and why drivers have such a hard time shutting it off.

It is believed the nuisance alarm affects only the newer 17-plate fleet of Arriva’s buses.

Arriva was contacted for a comment and was aware of the issue but would not explain the cause of the noise.
