Ter­ror sus­pect teen re­leased

A teenager was ar­rested at Stansted Air­port on sus­pi­cion of ter­ror­ism of­fences.

Of­fi­cers from the East­ern Re­gion Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Unit, work­ing with Counter Ter­ror­ism Polic­ing South East, ar­rested the boy on Sun­day af­ter­noon.

The teenager, from an un­re­vealed area of Kent, was due on a flight leav­ing the UK.

He was ar­rested around 4pm on sus­pi­cion of col­lect­ing in­for­ma­tion which is likely to be use­ful to a per­son com­mit­ting or pre­par­ing an act of ter­ror­ism un­der Sec­tion 58 of the Ter­ror­ism Act 2000.

He was de­tained un­der the Po­lice and Crim­i­nal Ev­i­dence Act but later re­leased with­out charge.
