Apprentice in running for care award
A care apprentice has been shortlisted for a national industry award.
Sullivan Elliott, who works at Maidstone’s Ashley Gardens Care Centre, has been announced as a finalist in the Best Care Apprentice category of the National Care Awards.
The 21-year-old joined the home, in Sutton Road, in January 2016 as an apprentice after he was introduced to the team by the Scope Programme, supported by Kent Supported Employment. He is now a permanent team member and spends time with people, reading with them, chatting to them, and listening to music.
Jo Mazza, home manager, said: “We are delighted Sullivan is being recognised in this way. He began his time here as a shy young man, lacking in confidence and selfbelief, but he has developed into a real specialist in his field and a core part of our team.”
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London in November.
