Two hurt as car falls off flyover

Kent Messenger Maidstone - - FRONT PAGE -

Emergency crews descended on the A2 after a car plunged 30ft off a flyover onto a cycle path.

The vehicle, carrying a man and a woman, careered through a barrier on the dual carriageway near Wincheap, Canterbury, at 11.30am on Monday.

The woman suffered head, arm and leg injuries and was flown to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford by air ambulance while the man was taken by road.

Sean Vincent, 25, was returning home from the shops when he heard a huge bang.

He said: “I thought something had come off the back of a lorry and then I saw smoke and just ran straight over to see if anyone was hurt. It was shocking, there was petrol around the car and the engine had come out.”
