Family pays tribute to ‘happy-go-lucky’ biker
A hospital cleaner has died 19 days after being knocked off his motorbike in Maidstone – and may have been hit by a vehicle travelling the wrong direction in a one-way street.
Witnesses report that Fred McIlveen, who was on his way to start an early shift at Maidstone Hospital, collided with a car heading down the one-way section of Tonbridge Road.
Kent Police say they cannot comment as investigations are ongoing and have reissued an appeal for information.
The 60-year-old’s family, who were by his bedside when he died, this week paid tribute to the “happy-go-lucky” father and grandfather.
He had lived in Mangravet for most of his life before moving to Loose.
