A children’s hospice charity has opened its new furniture shop in the County Town.

Demelza Hospice Care for Children, which looks after around 650 children and their families, opened the doors at its newest outlet in Sandling Road, Maidstone.

It’s the 25th shop run by the charity and will also be its centre of operations after a move from Sittingbourne.

The official ribbon cutting was done by Jamie Ponte, 11, with help from mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Malcolm Greer.

The celebrations also included a lucky dip for children and a performance by East Farleigh’s Old School Samba Band.
