Shocked by M20 lorry shunt

-

A mother says she was “left in shock” after a lorry shunted her car across the motorway before driving off.

Danielle Gordon was on her way to work, just before 8.30am on Monday, when her black Vauxhall Astra was struck between junction 8 for Leeds and junction 7 for Detling on the M20.

The 33-year-old from Ashford says that after being pushed from the middle of the London-bound carriageway to the far right lane, the lorry driver pulled into the hard shoulder to check his own vehicle for damage, before driving off.

Her car was left with a dented passenger side, scratches and damage to the wing mirror.

Another driver, who stopped behind Mrs Gordon, steered her car to the hard shoulder before running back across the motorway to get back into his own vehicle.

The mother had dropped her three-year-old son off at nursery shortly before.

Kent Police is appealing for witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage of the crash, to get in touch on 01622 604100 quoting 5-0210.

It happened within a 20-minute period when three other accidents were reported on the M20.

The previous night, snowfall had led to four pile-ups there.
