Take your own drinks. To book phone 01622 204569. In aid of The Children’s Society. Experience Taize: A service of prayer, song and contemplat­ion in St Nicholas Church on Sunday, February 25 at 5pm. Taize worship is intended to be meditative and thought provoking. Alpha Course: This weekly course, looking at the basics of the Christian faith, will be starting on Monday, February 26 in St Nicholas Church. The course is for those that are new to Church, those that attend occasional­ly, those that may have never stepped foot in a church but have questions and for those that feel they need to re-connect with the basics. Applicatio­n forms are available at the back of Church. Return the completed applicatio­n by February 18 either to the Revs Barry or Chris or drop it into the church office. Get Together: At the next Get Together meeting in the Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 14 from 2.30-4pm, Trevor Cox will give a talk about Tools With a Mission and the work of this charity that supplies tools and equipment to the disadvanta­ged and third world countries. Drop in afternoon: On Thursday February 15 at the Methodist Church from 2.30pm-4pm, an invitation is extended to go along for chat/board games and tea/ coffee/cake. Lent lunch: The first lent lunch will be held on Friday, February 23 at Holy Cross Church. Arrive between 12.15 and 12.30 for ploughman’s lunch. The talk starts at 1pm with questions at 1.20pm for 10 minutes. Action for children. Madginford WI: At the February meeting members enjoyed a talk by Liz Hall entitled The Joys of Discovery, Rhododendr­ons and Seashores, which all found interestin­g and not at all what they were expecting. The next meeting, on Thursday, March 8, is called Toy Care and Toy Boys 2. Members cannot wait to see what that is about. There are several groups active in this WI. The gardening group continue to visit some of our beautiful Kent gardens, and usually enjoy lunch or afternoon tea. There is an active craft group and various outings are organised throughout the year. New members welcome. Meeting are held on the second Thursday of the month (except August) at Madginford Hall, Egremont Road, from 8pm-10pm. The A group will meet at the Medical Centre at 2pm for a photograph­ic tour in Marden. Pop-in get togethers: The next pop-in coffee/ tea afternoon will be on Wednesday, February 14 from 2-4pm in the church. Everyone is welcome to go along for a chat, and a laugh, to have a go on the raffle and enjoy home made cakes and savouries with tea or coffee. Amy and Joshua from the Maidstone branch of Kent Associatio­n for the Blind attended the January pop-in, where they spoke about the work of the Associatio­n and the sort of items available to support the partially sighted. The meeting was well attended; raising £40 which was donated to Kent Associatio­n for the Blind. Council vacancy: The next parish council meeting is on Monday, February 12 at 7.30pm at the village school. Any questions from residents should be sent to the clerk at least 24 hours before the meeting on clerk.collstpc1@btinternet.com. This will be the last meeting for the chairman who is leaving the parish council. Any resident of the parish interested in becoming a councillor should contact the clerk. Valentine’s night: On Wednesday February 14, Valentine’s night, there will be a guitarist entertaini­ng diners, at The Woolpack on Benover Road.
