Cash needed for chil­dren’s trip

A des­per­ate ap­peal has been launched to help take dis­ad­van­taged Maid­stone chil­dren who would not oth­er­wise get a hol­i­day away on a five-day break.

The Sal­va­tion Army takes 40 young­sters from the town, aged be­tween eight and 12, to its Sum­mer Camp in Sus­sex ev­ery year.

Those who at­tend take part in a broad range of ac­tiv­i­ties such as swim­ming, sport, craft, team games and out­door wood­land ac­tiv­i­ties, while also re­ceiv­ing ex­ten­sive one-to-one sup­port through­out the week.

How­ever, the char­ity needs some £6,000 in dona­tions to make the trip hap­pen, and is now des­per­ately ap­peal­ing for help in rais­ing the cash be­fore the end of July.
