Cash needed for children’s trip
A desperate appeal has been launched to help take disadvantaged Maidstone children who would not otherwise get a holiday away on a five-day break.
The Salvation Army takes 40 youngsters from the town, aged between eight and 12, to its Summer Camp in Sussex every year.
Those who attend take part in a broad range of activities such as swimming, sport, craft, team games and outdoor woodland activities, while also receiving extensive one-to-one support throughout the week.
However, the charity needs some £6,000 in donations to make the trip happen, and is now desperately appealing for help in raising the cash before the end of July.
To make a donation, cash or cheques can be brought to 74-80 Union Street, or family worker Carole Dodd can be reached on 01622 681808.
