Primary school children are now able to enjoy reading in a new inspiring library modelled after an enchanted forest.

Parents were invited to the grand unveiling at Senacre Wood School in Graveney Road, Maidstone on Friday, September 28 where the guests could admire the newly decorated room - like a vision from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Cllr Gary Cooke also came along and donated £200 to the school to buy books.

The event was organised to coincide with the school’s Macmillan Coffee afternoon where visitors enjoyed tea and cake to raise funds for the cancer charity.

Deputy head and English lead Maria Comerford, who took a leading role in creating the new library, says children are now reading more thanks to the renovation

“It was really lovely the community came together and the donation was pledged. The kids are really enthusiastic about reading,” she said.
