Drunk stuns shoppers in tirade
A blood-soaked drunk showered a Maidstone shopping centre with swear words as shocked schoolchildren looked on after he was refused the sale of a knife.
Dale Percy claimed he had been beaten up outside a shop before entering the Mall and trying to by a knife on September 18.
The 32-year-old, who lives in a tent, was arrested when he car- ried on hurling horrendous language at passers-by and children.
Percy, of no fixed address, was given a conditional discharge when he admitted one count of being drunk and disorderly during a hearing at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Andrew Jones, prosecuting, said: “Security staff had detained the defendant after he had been refused the sale of a knife from a store.
“He told police he had been assaulted by a man and woman outside another retail premises. He was described as shouting and swearing at members of the public including young schoolchildren.”
Percy added: “I had blood all over my face. I was angry.”
