Five face mod­ern slav­ery charges

De­tec­tives have charged six peo­ple in con­nec­tion with a drugs sup­ply net­work - in­clud­ing sev­eral in re­la­tion to mod­ern slav­ery.

Gavin Bond, 34, of Mote Road in Maidstone is charged with be­ing con­cerned in the sup­ply of heroin and crack co­caine and al­low­ing a premises to be used for sup­ply­ing drugs.

An­drew Cooke, 61, of Felder­land Close, Maidstone, is charged with mod­ern slav­ery and be­ing con­cerned in the sup­ply of heroin and crack co­caine. He is also ac­cused of breach­ing his Sex­ual Of­fences Pre­ven­tion Or­der. Peace Alaka, 18, of The Grove in Gravesend faces a drugs sup­ply charge and one of mod­ern slav­ery. Two 17-year-old boys - from Hemel Hemp­stead and Bex­ley­heath - were charged with mod­ern slav­ery and heroin and crack co­caine sup­ply, with the for­mer charged with hav­ing a bladed ar­ti­cle. The sus­pects are due be­fore Maidstone mag­is­trates. Reis Bhan­dal, 18, from Gravesend, is due at Wool­wich Crown Court. He faces drugs sup­ply and mod­ern slav­ery charges.
