Late double secures a point
Charlie Roberts scored twice in the last five minutes to salvage a 5-5 draw for K Sports under-18s in the Kent Youth League, South Division. Crosses from Jack Bates were finished by Ollie Aston and Matt Morse as Sports took an early 2-0 lead before Ashford replied. Aston restored the two-goal cushion but Sports were down to 10 men when Jack Ward handled on the line and saw red. Ashford converted the penalty and opened up a 5-3 lead in the second half after Bates missed from the spot. Roberts’ fine strike from the edge of the area gave Sports hope and he scored an injury-time equaliser after working his way through the defence. Maidstone Minor League side Kings Hill Athletic won 4-1 at Hartley de Sales in the Under-18 Ron Hamer Cup. Elliot Cattermole’s cross forced an own goal and George Conroy made it 2-0 from 25 yards. Joe Tobin’s pass set up a second for Conroy and he went close to a hat-trick with a crafty flick. Shay Moodie rounded off the scoring, arriving at speed to meet Cattermole’s cross and fire into the roof of the net.
