New toys come in two by two at Ark playgroup
CHILDREN enjoyed playing with new toys at the reopening of their playgroup. The Ark parent and toddler group at Brabourne Baptist Church has been awarded nearly £6,000 towards new resources and activities. Some of the money, awarded by the Local Network Fund, has already been spent on indoor toys for youngsters. There are also plans for new outdoor equipment in time for summer. The Rev John Crew, of the Baptist church, officially reopened the Ark on Friday. The group began almost five years ago and now has between 30 and 40 children from Ashford and the surrounding villages at its Friday morning family dropin play sessions. Spokesman Ann Dunn said: “We are extremely grateful to the Local Network Fund for enabling us to buy essential health, safety and security items and to enhance the play provision for children attending our group by replacing broken, loaned and poorer quality toys and equipment.” The Ark is open from 10am to noon on Fridays during term-time. The weekly fee of £2 per family includes a healthy snack for the children and refreshments for parents and carers.
