Criticism of ‘late’ opening unfair

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - OPINION -

IN THIS context, I would also like to comment on a letter headed “Staff never open office on time” (February 15). The criticism of the Wye station staff is grossly unfair. If staff do not have a car and have to take the train arriving at 6.40am, this should hardly cause “considerable inconvenience” to passengers. It is possible to buy a travel ticket on the platform and get a full ticket on the train. Also, if your correspondent is a regular traveller, he, and other passengers travelling at this time, will no doubt probably have season tickets. The staff at Wye station are not only friendly, but extremely helpful to passengers. Most of us in Wye consider ourselves singularly lucky to have such a friendly and well-kept station. Mrs P.L. Morgan, Chequers Park, Wye, Ashford.
