Vil­lage hit by five-day crime wave

HIGH Halden is ex­pe­ri­enc­ing a mi­nor crime spree. A num­ber of thefts were recorded last week which has led po­lice to is­sue a re­minder for peo­ple to stay alert. Last Tues­day af­ter­noon the door of a house in The Chen­nells was forced open and a hand­bag and a num­ber of power tools stolen. A gar­den shed was also bro­ken into be­tween Fe­bru­ary 17 and 20 and seven fish­ing rods, an um­brella and ruck­sack taken. Two gen­er­a­tors and a Stihl chain­saw were also stolen from a van parked in The Chen­nells be­tween Fe­bru­ary 20 and 21. PC An­nie Wil­liams said: “We have no clues at the mo­ment, but peo­ple should re­main vig­i­lant and if they see any­thing sus­pi­cious, they should phone 999. “If they have any in­for­ma­tion about the thefts they can con­tact me at Ten­ter­den po­lice sta­tion on 01233 896483.
