Wine and the wisdom of buying Fairtrade

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - JUNCTION 10 -

FAIRTRADE wine, bananas, peanuts and cakes were tried and tested at a market on Saturday. Shoppers at Wye Farmers’ Market were encouraged to sample the products as part of Fairtrade Fortnight. Among the products on offer were orange juice, red and white wine, flapjacks and chocolate cakes, as well as wooden carvings which were made by a community in Kenya. Market manager Sarah Huntley said: “The market was very busy and there was a lot of interest in the Fairtrade products. “People think Fairtrade is just about coffee and chocolate, but there are so many more products and it is very important people find out about them.”
