MODELLING AUDITIONS: Advice to others not to part with their money
A SINGLE mum who gave more than £200 to a modelling agency is warning other parents to beware before parting with their money.
Karen Jones, of Mardol Road, Kennington, took her 13-year-old daughter Samantha to modelling auditions in February last year at an Ashford hotel, after seeing an advertisement by Hoto Promotional Services, which has since been taken over by another company.
“We were told she was just what they were looking for,” said Mrs Jones.
“Naturally we were thrilled. They assured us Sam would get work.”
Mrs Jones handed over £159 for promotional photographs, which she finally received two months later.
She was then contacted by a company called Studio 1 Promotions which offered Samantha a one-year representation contract. They accepted and paid a further £49 for a marketing pack, which she says she has never received.
More than a year later, they have received no contact from either company. Hoto has since been taken over by a company called Eimaj.

Mrs Jones got in touch with the Kentish Express after seeing Eimaj was holding auditions last weekend at Ashford International Hotel.
She said: “My daughter hasn’t done anything about modelling since because we’ve been put off.”
