A PRIMARY school has been busy teaching a host of famous characters including Harry Potter, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Captain Hook.

They turned up as part of International Book Week at the Lady Joanna Thornhill Primary School in Wye, where pupils and teachers dressed up as their favourite book characters.

Head teacher Kevin Grout, said: “All week long, the focus was looking at a whole variety of children’s literature to stimulate interest in reading and writing .

“One of the books they had a special interest in was The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. It’s about a little mouse using his initiative to keep himself out of trouble with bigger animals.

“It was really pleasing to see young and older children sharing stories together.
