HELPING TO SAVE WILDLIFE
JAMBOHUT is an organisation which uses the principles of fair trade to help preserve and conserve wildlife. Ashford Fairtrade representative Andrew Hind set up the company in Woodchurch in 1998 to help small non-food producers in Kenya. Fifty per cent of the net profits raised are used in wildlife projects in Africa. Jambohut also sponsors the Barbary Lion Project at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park which aims to improve the breeding of barbary, or Atlas lions, which are described as extinct in the wild. Visit www.jambohut.org to find out more and to take part in a survey on fair trade.
