Patient, 86, died during operation
AN ELDERLY woman died from a heart attack during surgery for a broken hip, an inquest heard.
An inquest at Ashford court on Thursday heard how Margaret Chesterman, 86, was taken to the William Harvey Hospital on August 10, after falling at her home in Avereng Road, Folkestone, that day.
Mrs Chesterman suffered a fractured hip and underwent surgery on August 14.
During the operation, in which bone repair cement is injected into the thigh to secure a prosthesis, Mrs Chesterman suffered a heart attack. Coroner Rachel Redman recorded a verdict of accidental death.
