CHAPEL Down Winery in Smallhythe has been shortlisted in the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2007.

The vineyard and restaurant has reached the final stage of VisitBritain’s annual awards for English tourism, alongside fellow Kent attractions Well Cottage, in Hollingbourne and the Towncentric Tourist Information Centre in Gravesend.

Each won their category in the 2006 Tourism ExSEllence awards, run by Tourism South East.

Winners of the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2007 will be announced on April 18.

Robert Collier, Tourism South East managing director, said: “We’re delighted that these tourism businesses have shone on the national stage, reaching the last stage of such prestigious awards.

“It is an indication of their commitment to quality, excellent service and innovation and a reflection of Kent’s outstanding tourism industry to have finalists in three very different categories.”
