A COFFEE house and gift shop in Tenterden has stepped up its search for a buyer. Porter’s, in the High Street, has gone on the market with a new estate agent, the Maidstone branch of Christie & Co. Owner David Wainwright is hoping to retire. The shop is on the market for £120,000 for the leasehold interest. It is held on a secure lease which runs until September 2013, with a current rent of £11,500 per annum. The shop can seat 34 diners, and there is space for 22 more to dine al fresco on the pavement outside. A quarter of the business’ turnover comes from the sale of gifts and silk flowers.

Last September, Mr Wainwright said: “If I were younger, I would carry on. “I have been here six-and-ahalf years and have been very successful.” Michele Parker, from Christie & Co, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to take over this stylish shop.” Christie & Co can be contacted on 01622 656000.
