Transport company sold

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - RECRUITMENT & BUSINESS FOR THE VERY LATEST JOBS AN -

ONE of Kent’s largest commercial vehicle specialists, which has its headquarters in Ashford, has been bought by its management team.

Since it was set up in 1987 by outgoing owners Tony Chudleigh and Ron Stupple, Channel Commercials has grown into a £40m-a-year business, with premises in Canterbury, Sevenoaks and Strood in addition to its headquarters on the Cobbs Wood industrial estate.

The company employs 195 staff and was sold for an undisclosed sum.

Spokesman Mike Macintyre said: “Although it was a simple deal in principle, it took the professionalism of all those involved to make it happen.”
