STANHOPE Angling Society started their campaign for the Angling Times Van den Eynde Supercup 2007.

This is a knockout competition throughout the whole of the UK.

This year the team were presented a home draw against Cinque Ports As and Westlodge AC no easy task.

The venue was Stanhope’s club water The Moat at Park Farm.

Each team consisted of seven anglers and was to be decided on points gained from the seven sections.

The weather on the day was not kind for those fishing the pole with gusting winds and heavy rain, none the less there were no dry nets.

Stanhope utilised the home advantage and with the aid of Dave Ayrton Turner as bank runner won through with five sections win and two section seconds.

Individually the top weight was Steven Homewood 38 lb 14ounces Stanhope, second Bill Jones 37 lb 15ounce Westlodge and third Lee Talbot Stanhope 18 pound.

Team positions Stanhope 19 points, Cinque Ports 13 points and Westlodge 10 points.

The Stanhope team on the day was Kevin Palmer, Lee Palmer, Craig Palmer, Steven Homewood, Rikki Egglesden, Lee Talbot and Steve Crump.

Stanhope are now hoping that the fates will be kind to them with another home draw in the next round.
