Town projects granted an ex­tra £2.7mil­lion

ASH­FORD’S re­gen­er­a­tion plans were given a boost this week af­ter fur­ther fund­ing sup­port was an­nounced by the Gov­ern­ment. As part of the Com­mu­ni­ties and Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Growth Area Fund­ing (GAF2), a fur­ther £2.764mil­lion was al­lo­cated to projects in town. It in­cludes cash for the Ash­ford Learn­ing Cam­pus, the Singleton En­vi­ron­ment Cen­tre and War­ren Park and Ride. Martin Ba­con, man­ag­ing di­rec­tor for Ash­ford’s Fu­ture, said: “Our proven track record for de­liv­er­ing projects has en­abled us to se­cure this ad­di­tional fund­ing.” Ash­ford has re­ceived a to­tal of £14.064mil­lion growth area fund­ing to date in the cur­rent round, which runs from April 2006 to the end of March 2008.
