Joe stars in BBC reality show
FORMER Tenterden schoolboy Joe Chicken has spent the past few days adjusting to his new life on a remote island in New Zealand. Joe is one of 13 members of the public who have escaped their ordinary lives for a year to appear on the new series of the BBC’s reality TV show Castaway. Occupational therapist Joe, 33, was living in London before departing for Great Barrier Island, but last year he returned to Ashford to help run his elder brother Simon’s pub, the Flying Horse in Boughton Lees. Vegetarian Joe went to school at Homewood. He says his motto is: “Sometimes you are lucky, sometimes you aren’t, whatever your luck, people still smile if you smile at them.” Castaway, presented by Danny Wallace, is shown on BBC three every weekday, and on Sunday nights on BBC 1.
