CHIL­DREN re­ceived a stand­ing ova­tion at the week­end at the end of a variety show based around the mu­sic of Queen.

The 28 chil­dren, aged be­tween 12 and 14, all be­long to St Teresa’s Church con­fir­ma­tion group.

They held the show, Queen: A Night at the Game Show, in St Teresa’s school hall, Quan­tock Drive, Ash­ford.

Acts in­cluded Queen songs We Will Rock You and We Are the Cham­pi­ons. The boys dressed as girls to per­form to a Pussy­cat Dolls song, and games in­cluded Deal or No Deal and The Gen­er­a­tion Game.

Con­fir­ma­tion group leader Louise Perry said: “The kids did ab­so­lutely ev­ery­thing them­selves and worked so hard giv­ing up their free time. There was a won­der­ful at­mos­phere dur­ing the show and even the priests, Fa­ther Gus and Fa­ther Joe got in­volved.”

A to­tal of £870 was raised, most of which will go to the Celia Blakey unit at the William Har­vey Hospi­tal.
