Scouts feel the burn in fund-raising effort

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - JUNCTION 10 -

SCOUTS were joined by their leaders and parents for a sponsored aerobics session. About 20 exercise novices and enthusiasts jumped around for more than an hour to raise money for the 6th Ashford Scouts. The event, at the Scout hut off Jemmett Road, was organised by Debbie Hill, Vikki Perry and Nikki Turner and the aerobathon was led by professional instructor Sylvia Carey. Organiser Debbie Hill’s eightyear-old son, Mikey Satchell, is a Cub. She said: “We were thrilled with the way it went. We were in absolute hysterics with what some people were wearing and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part.” The Barclays Committed to the Community programme agreed to match all funding, taking the total raised to £1,600. Instructor Sylvia Carey of Fitness Foundations has said that from everyone who goes to her for a lifestyle analysis, she will donate the £10 fee to the Scouts.
