I rubbed my eyes at rare sight

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - OPINION -

IT’S something I’d heard and read about but I never expected to see it with my own eyes. I’d always assumed it was just a myth. Yet the other night, I was witness to a phenomenon I no longer believed in. It was dark and I was just popping out to my local shop. As I stepped out of the door, there it was: moving almost silently, lights swooped towards me. I rubbed my eyes, certain I must be hallucinating. It was still there. No, it wasn’t a UFO. It was far more otherwordly. It was a cyclist with lights and a reflective jacket. Until that night, I’d only ever seen them in dark clothes and lightless. Don’t give up believers, they’re out there. I feel privileged to have finally seen one. Paul Harris, Christchurch Road, Ashford.
