Kentish Express Ashford & District - - OPINION -

A SPEEDING driver who was photographed travelling through roadworks at 111mph has been fined and disqualified.

Damian Kirby, 27, of Morehall Avenue, Folkestone, admitted to Ashford magistrates on Friday that on January 12 this year he sped through the temporary 50mph speed limit on the M20 at junction 10 at Ashford.

He was fined £350, ordered to pay court costs of £35 and disqualified from driving for 42 days.

The Kent and Medway Safety Camera Partnership caught the Mercedes he was driving on its mobile safety camera van.

Spokesman for the partnership Rachel Wall said: “The temporary 50mph limit is there for the safety of the workforce and motorists during roadworks.

“This offence was a blatant disregard for people’s safety and the law. This type of driving is outrageous and will not be tolerated by the partnership.”
