Homes hit by power cut

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - OPINION -

THOUSANDS of homes and businesses in Ashford and Kennington were left without power on Tuesday evening after an electrical fault.

The power cut lasted almost an hour, and affected houses in Little Burton, Bybrook and Simone Weil Avenue, where Sainsbury’s supermarket was left without electricity.

Rebecca Hopkinson, spokes- man for electricity firm EDF Energy, said: “Several thousand customers in the Ashford area experienced an interruption to their power supply at 5.40pm, following a fault on a piece of electrical equipment at one of our substations.

“EDF Energy Networks engineers worked to restore power as quickly as possible and all supplies were restored at 6.32pm.”
