Fined for supplying flammable cushions

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - OPINION -

A COMPANY has been fined £2,500 for supplying an Ashford store with highly-flammable cushions.

Blackpool-based SGI Imports pleaded guilty to two counts of supplying Homeplus in Beaver Road with dangerous products in a letter read out at Ashford Magistrates’ Court.

SGI had previously pleaded not guilty to supplying 16 purple star and 24 blue flower shaped cushions to the Ashford business.

The court heard how all 40 cushions had been seized by trading standards last year.

SGI said in a letter it had changed its procedures.

SGI was ordered to pay £2,500 on each of the two charges, £1,175 costs and forfeited all the cushions.
