Pri­ory ball looks back to the 1920s

ALL the fun of the Roar­ing Twen­ties is the aim of a glam­orous fund-rais­ing ball be­ing held in the stun­ning set­ting of St Augustine’s Pri­ory, Bils­ing­ton, on Satur­day, April 14. Or­gan­ised by Libby Har­ri­son, it is the latest event in me­mory of her late mother to boost the Mary Webb Can­cer Ap­peal funds. The money will help sup­port equip­ment for the £50,000 scan­ners they have al­ready funded for the Celia Blakey Can­cer Cen­tre at the William Har­vey Hospi­tal. Al­ready more than 100 tick­ets for the black tie or 1920s dress event have been sold, but they are still ac­cept­ing book­ings on 01233 720992. The evening will open with a cock­tail re­cep­tion and live mu­sic from jazz vo­cal­ist Adam Chan­dler, fol­lowed by the meal. Af­ter din­ner close-up magic from French ex­pert Eti­enne and a char­ity auc­tion will be fol­lowed by danc­ing to the ac­claimed Ron­nie Scott’s Re­jects Band un­til the early hours.
