High praise for youths’ project

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - OPINION -

YOUNGSTERS from a south Ashford youth club have won top county recognition for one of their successful projects. Travellers Adventures is run by the Christchurch Youth Centre to provide weeklong residential stays for young men from the travelling community at the Mountains Centre in Wales, with a variety of outdoor activities, including rock climbing and gorge walking. Their efforts saw the local team gather for a gala evening to celebrate Kent’s most successful youth projects, which have received funding from the county council’s youth opportunities fund. Young People’s panels nominated one project from each of the 12 districts and they made a three-minute presentation before an invited audience to demonstrate how it works and why it is such a success.
