Help end the loneliness of elderly

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - OPINION -

A NEW project to befriend elderly people feeling isolated or lonely has been launched in Ashford.

Called Info4U, it is a partnership between Ashford Volunteer Bureau, the rural outreach group CARM and Citizens Advice Bureau to help housebound or disabled people who have little family contact.

They are provided with a weekly visitor, who will pop in for a chat and a cup of tea and help them link with essential services so that they can remain independent at home, rather than going into hospital or long-term care.

Already there is a waiting list and organiser Carmel Thompson is looking for more volunteers who are asked to contact her on 01233 665535 or 07734 759472.
