STEPPING OUT: Mums on the move for walk in village
MUMS stepped out for a special Mother’s Day walk in Hawkinge on Sunday. Stephen Walker of the White Cliffs Countryside Project who led the outing said: “We went from north to north east of the village and across the Downs, up to old Hawkinge and back past Coombe Woods. “I took some photocopies of old illustrated manuscripts with me which showed medieval women in the countryside, working as masons and in mining.” Walkers were able to compare the countryside as it was then and in the present day.
The launch of the Hawkinge Environment Group is being held on Saturday at 2pm, at the community centre.
