HOSPITAL trusts across the country collected £95 million in car parking charges last year. Judy Beard, the Macmillan Cancer Support acting chief executive, said: “These figures are shocking. “Cancer patients spend hundreds of pounds each year on hospital parking.” The East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust recorded the fifth highest income of trusts in the country and the highest in Kent. The figures for the other Kent trusts were: Medway, £1,045,272; Maidstone And Tunbridge Wells, £704,724; Queen Mary’s Sidcup, £152,000; Dartford And Gravesham, no figures available.
